ARgan oil Moroccan Organic Refinded
Our Organic, Refined and Deodorised Argan Oil. It is 100% pure but has been deodorised to remove some of the odour that at times has been described as resembling a walk through a goat field.
Produced in Morocco for us, golden coloured Argan oil has been used there for centuries by the Berber women to protect their skin, hair, and nails. Argan oil is now gaining popularity as a ‘miracle ingredient’ in the Western beauty product industry. It contains very high levels of Vitamin E and 80% fatty acids which make it perfect for healing many skin ailments as well as protecting against premature ageing caused by oxidation
Argan oil is a deeply nourishing vegetable oil, rich in vitamin E, flavonoids, polyphenols, carotenoids, ferulic acid and antioxidants, making it ideal for use in aromatherapy. It's rich, complex, and unique chemical composition aids the skin, helping to soften wrinkles, and protect against the damaging effects of premature ageing. No wonder it's known as 'liquid gold' and 'Moroccan gold' in the beauty industry!
Most carriers are cold pressed oils (sometimes called Sacred oils). “Cold” refers to the item being kept at a low temperature during pressing and “pressed” refers to the method of extraction. This method indicates that little or no heat or chemical additives were used to extract the oil from the item (which can alter or destroy the flavours or aromas of the oil). It is a very natural way of producing the oil. The seed or nut is crushed, forcing out the oil. Seeds are dropped inside a cylinder that contains a rotating screw. This screw grinds and crushes the seeds until the oil is extracted. Small holes in the bottom of the cylinder allow the oil to escape into a container.
Some Oils require hot press, that is they require heat to advance the oil extraction process. Electric heaters are attached to the press cylinder and as the seeds inside the cylinder heat up, they become softer and easier to break down. This method tends to improve oil yield but the heat can reduce the flavour, aroma and nutritional content of the oil.
Other carrier oils are Infusions. An infusion takes place when herbs are extracted with a fixed oil, usually vegetable oil, to make infused herbal oil intended primarily for use on the skin. Compare with essential oils that are either steam distilled or cold pressed. Infusions often use a traditional process called digestion, a very low heat, prolonged extraction designed to draw out the plant’s bioactive compounds. Fixed oils dissolve many of the same compounds that dissolve in pure alcohol and the resulting infused oil represents a whole herb extract of the plant.
