calendula infused oil
This cracking Calendula Oil infusion is a warm pale yellow colour, is odourless and medium in texture. We have searched long and hard to find a robust Calendula and this one ticks all the boxes.
Calendula Oil is an infusion of marigold flowers soaked in sunflower or similar oil, and has been used for centuries for its renowned calming, soothing properties on the skin. A fabulous healer.
Said to be great for dry or chapped hands that have been subjected to abuse, perhaps at work or in the garden. When used as an intensive skin care treatment it can be effective for reducing thread veins or broken veins on the face. When applied directly to the skin it helps to ease red, irritated and sensitive skin.
Calendula Oil can also help to balance excessively oily skin bu massaging oil into the face before retiring to bed and allowing it to work overnight. It also works wonders when applied to ladies legs to soothe dry and irritated skin after shaving. Used in massage for maintaining joint mobility in later life. Like all infused oils, it can be used alone to ease skin conditions, or added to another carrier such as almond at 15% to 20% for massaging.
This oil is an infusion. An infusion takes place when herbs are extracted with a fixed oil, usually vegetable oil , to make infused herbal oil intended primarily for use on the skin. Compare with essential oils that are either steam distilled or cold pressed. Infusions often use a traditional process called digestion, a very low heat, prolonged extraction designed to draw out the plant’s bioactive compounds. Fixed oils dissolve many of the same compounds that dissolve in pure alcohol and the resulting infused oil represents a whole herb extract of the plant.
