broccoli seed oil
So what exactly is Broccoli Seed Oil? A craze, fad, gimmick or inexpensive wonder oil? Natural, Vegan and available in three sizes, with 100ml being the most economical.
Speaking as someone who didn’t even know Broccoli had seeds, I have been astonished when experimenting with this oil. You will be too.
Some consider it the perfect natural alternative to retinol in that it’s ample Vitamin A content is said to help skin renew. Plus it is packed with helpful fatty acids. It has applications for both Hair and Skin, although we are focusing here on Hair. This wonder oil has 80% polyunsaturated fats that are rich in omega fatty acids that essential for healthy, non brittle hair.
If you are having a bad hair day, suffer Fly Away or even Frizzy Hair, Broccoli Seed is the perfect inexpensive solution .Simply put just a couple of drops of Broccoli Seed Oil on the palms of your hands, rub together, then distribute evenly throughout hair ( or a problem area of hair). You will find it quickly tames the beast. Use more or less as required. It can even be added along the length of a comb which is then run lightly through the hair.
Split ends can also prove tricky between haircuts. Simply add to fingertips before running them gently across the ends of your hair. You will be amazed by the result and the speed of the cure.
Best of all in our opinion, is to use it as a perfect scalp treatment, brimming with natural vegan goodness. Due to it’s high fatty acids content, vitamins and antioxidants, it is the perfect oil to just gently massage into the scalp. Then grab a tea, read a paper and 30 minutes later wash and condition in the usual way. Then rinse and optionally condition as usual.
We have even seen a few drops been added to any shop bought conditioner and we recommend it with our organic conditioner base.
Broccoli seed oil might also be the new wonder oil for curly hair , especially as an alternative to silicone, commonly used by many to control curly hair. It is not as extensively promoted as say, Argan and certainly doesn’t sound as mysterious or sexy. But for cury hair it is an excellent natural alternative to silicone without the associated hassle.
Put simply the high content of erucic fatty acid in broccoli seed oil when used on hair mimicks the behaviour and functionality of silicones and leaves a light film around each hair strand, imparting shine and lustre whilst reducing frizz.. Due to the almost 50% erucic acid (Omega-9) content Broccoli Seed Oil is light and non-greasy making it easily absorbed, and rapidly provides moisture to hair. In home made treatments it provides a non greasy feel and aids shelf life due to it’s antioxidant content.
HAIR LOSS – using cold pressed broccoli seed oil is said to help prevent hair loss since this vegetable contains a substance that blocks DHT (dihydrotestosterone), a hormone responsible for hair loss and thinning and closely linked with male baldness.
HEALTHY HAIR – This little wonder oil has 80-85% of polyunsaturated fats that are rich in omega fatty acids and are essential for healthy hair preventing dry and brittle hair and promoting hair growth.
