Petitgrain Essential Oil Variations
For no logical reason this is one of my favourite oils. Petitgrain, is yet another essential oil obtained from orange trees. It is distilled from the leaves and from the twigs and tiny green unripe fruit.
It has a Fresh, Flowery, Light fragrance with bittersweet and woody undertones yet still a top note oil. Some even call it sharp and green with a hint of orange. The colour of freshly cut straw. The properties of petitgrain are very similar to those of neroli.
It is a sedative, relaxant, tranquilizer and a cardiac tonic.Petitgrain can be used to calm anxieties, to prevent insomnia, and to help patients come off tranquilizers. Great as a bath essence, as a massage oil and even as a tisane.
TOP TIP : To relax after a hectic day or a long journey, lie in a warm bath containing 10 drops petitgrain.
