Sweet almond Oil Cold Pressed, Cosmetic & Food Grade Oil Refined
Sweet Almond is very light and easy to use, and has become the go too carrier for massage oil for use in aromatherapy. Rich in proteins and vitamin D, Sweet Almond carrier oil is both protective and nourishing to the skin when used regularly. It is a highly versatile carrier oil that can be used for a wide range of skin care uses such as overnight face and body moisturising, hair softening, and even as a waterproof makeup cleanser.
Most carriers are cold pressed oils (sometimes called Sacred oils). “Cold” refers to the item being kept at a low temperature during pressing and “pressed” refers to the method of extraction. This method indicates that little or no heat or chemical additives were used to extract the oil from the item (which can alter or destroy the flavours or aromas of the oil). It is a very natural way of producing the oil. The seed or nut is crushed, forcing out the oil. Seeds are dropped inside a cylinder that contains a rotating screw. This screw grinds and crushes the seeds until the oil is extracted. Small holes in the bottom of the cylinder allow the oil to escape into a container.
Some Oils require hot press, that is they require heat to advance the oil extraction process. Electric heaters are attached to the press cylinder and as the seeds inside the cylinder heat up, they become softer and easier to break down. This method tends to improve oil yield but the heat can reduce the flavour, aroma and nutritional content of the oil.
Other carrier oils are Infusions. An infusion takes place when herbs are extracted with a fixed oil, usually vegetable oil, to make infused herbal oil intended primarily for use on the skin. Compare with essential oils that are either steam distilled or cold pressed. Infusions often use a traditional process called digestion, a very low heat, prolonged extraction designed to draw out the plant’s bioactive compounds. Fixed oils dissolve many of the same compounds that dissolve in pure alcohol and the resulting infused oil represents a whole herb extract of the plant

Sweet Almond Carrier Oil
I've been purchasing this in bulk for a number of years, using it as a daily body moisturiser after a shower (apply whilst wet from the shower to avoid feeling greasy as it makes it spread better if you are damp when applying). I decant into a smaller bottle and add a few drops of essential oil to use if I'm not wearing perfume but if I am, I use it without oils (so have two 100ml bottles). I have found it an amazingly cheap way of keeping my skin radiant and healthy and I often get complimented on my skin.
